Each spring the Safari Park's Hidden Jungle rain forest greenhouse is filled with 10,000 exotic butterflies of all colors and sizes, and guests can walk among them, take photos, and learn different species using a butterfly identification guide. If you wear bright colors, a few might just perch on you to take a closer look. Free with park admission.

Poetic Matrix Press is celebrating their 20 year Anniversary with an anthology representing their 45 authors and 60 books (1997-2017). Titled So Many Voices , a few of the authors presented in its pages will read their work during the first hour of this afternoon's reading, with an open mic for everyone else during the second hour.

Enjoy classic rock and country music performed by Head First, a crowd favorite at the annual barbecue event, featuring local archaeologist Dr. Timothy Gross. The Center will also present the Golden Trowel Award for excellence in archaeology, recognize outstanding volunteers, and much more. For those interested in working in the field of archaeology, the Center invites you to come early to hear cultural resource management (CRM), government, and academic archaeologists discuss job-seeking at the Employment Seminar held at 10:30 am. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets to the barbecue and network with guests.

Along with headliners Built To Spill, No Age, Bill Callahan (Smog), and Shabazz Palaces, the diverse lineup also features Lonnie Holley, Willis Earl Beal, Treepeople, EMA, Café Ale (dublab), Moon Diagrams (Moses Archuleta of Deerhunter), Drew McDowall (Coil, Psychic TV, Poems), Tara Jane ONeil, Hiro Kone, Ice Balloons (TV on The Radio, Fuck Emos, S ... AMIAM, Sun Foot, along with local acts HEXA, Spooky Cigarette and Island Boy. Pall Jenkins (Black Heart Procession, 3Mile Pilot) and Lori Goldston (Nirvana Unplugged) will perform the opening anthem.



The inaugural 2018 festival will also feature immersive interactive art from local and national artists including: Chris Warren, Jeremy Zierau, The League of Imaginary Scientists, Southwestern College Experimental Contemporary Art Class, Ingram Ober, Kyle Ranson, Shaun O'Dell, Johanna Jackson, Lucy Solomon and Cindy Santos Bravo, with more to be announced. Experience sound installations, performance art, and participate in supporter-generated ecological solutions and discussions with our partners: San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy, and Dr. Gabriel Miller (San Diego Zoo Global Scientist).



The festival also featured a wide variety of local food vendors, breweries, craft and retail tables including sponsors Green Flash, Guayaki Yerba Matte, Casanova Fish Tacos, Island Life Foods, Vinyl Junkies, Medi Pops and more to be announced.



General admission for all ages early bird tickets are available now at $40.00 for a one day pass and $80.00 for a weekend pass. VIP day passes are available at $80.00 and a VIP weekend pass is $160.00.



On April 20th all ages general admission one-day passes will be available for $50.00 or weekend passes will be $90.00. The VIP day pass is $90.00 and the VIP weekend pass is $170.00.



On May 16th all ages general admission one-day passes will be available at $60.00 for a one day pass or $100.00 for a weekend pass. The VIP day pass will be available at $100.00 and a VIP weekend pass is $180.00.



VIP ticket holders will have full access to various amenities, a secluded space to relax, private DJ area, VIP bathroom, complimentary food and drink tickets, front-line access at the entrance, food and drink area and more. Each VIP ticket holder will also receive a free gift. Check back for added updates and announcements.
